Terms of Service

1. The Service

Footprint is a location intelligence platform that analyses UK neighbourhood data to help identify potential locations for business expansion. We combine demographic, commercial, and transport data with AI analysis to score and rank over 7,000 areas across England and Wales.

2. Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Each account is for a single person unless you are on a Scale plan with multiple seats. You are responsible for the security of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating your account.

3. Subscription Plans and Payment

Subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe. Current prices are shown on our pricing page and are exclusive of applicable taxes. Prices may change with 30 days’ notice. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled.

You can cancel at any time via your account settings or the Stripe customer portal. Access continues until the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial months.

If a payment fails, we will retry for 7 days. If payment is not resolved, your account reverts to the free tier. Your data is retained but inaccessible until you resubscribe.

4. Plan-Specific Terms

By subscribing to a paid plan you agree to the following terms specific to your tier, in addition to these general Terms of Service.

4.1 Core

  • Includes 1 user seat. Credentials must not be shared with others.
  • Up to 5 project searches per calendar month. Unused searches do not roll over.
  • Each search enriches up to 200 areas.
  • Additional one-off searches may be purchased as search credits, subject to availability.
  • Outputs (maps, data tables, AI analysis) may be used for your own internal business purposes.
  • Reports generated on this plan may not be white-labelled or presented to third-party clients as your own work product.

4.2 Pro

  • Includes 1 user seat. Credentials must not be shared with others.
  • Unlimited project searches per calendar month, subject to fair use (see section 6).
  • Each search enriches up to 200 areas.
  • Branded PDF reports and white-label client presentations are included. You may present these to third-party clients under your own branding.
  • Priority support with a target response time of 1 business day.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of any material you present to your clients using our outputs.

4.3 Scale

  • Includes 3 user seats. Each seat is for a named individual within your organisation. Seats may be reassigned by contacting support.
  • Unlimited project searches per calendar month, subject to fair use (see section 6).
  • Each search enriches up to 200 areas.
  • All Pro features are included: branded reports, white-label presentations, and priority support.
  • Shared projects are accessible to all seats within the subscription. Project ownership and permissions are managed by the account holder.
  • Dedicated onboarding session included at no additional cost, to be scheduled within 30 days of subscription start.
  • You are responsible for ensuring all seat holders comply with these Terms of Service.

5. Free Trials and Promo Codes

Free trials and promotional codes may be offered from time to time with limited duration and usage caps. On expiry, your account reverts to the free tier. Your data is retained but inaccessible until you subscribe. One trial per person or business. We reserve the right to revoke trials if abused.

6. Fair Use Policy

All plans include searches subject to fair use. The following are not considered fair use:

  • Automated or scripted access to the service
  • Systematic bulk data extraction
  • Sharing login credentials outside your organisation
  • Building a competing product or dataset using our outputs
  • Reselling access or outputs without our written permission
  • Circumventing usage limits or rate limits

We will contact you before taking any action related to fair use concerns, and may suspend your account after reasonable notice.

7. AI-Generated Analysis

All AI-generated analysis, scoring, and recommendations provided by Footprint are advisory only and do not constitute professional advice. Our analysis is based on available data and statistical modelling, not guarantees of commercial success.

You are solely responsible for any business decisions made using our analysis. Outputs may contain errors. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any AI-generated content.

8. Data and Intellectual Property

The underlying demographic data used by Footprint comes from publicly available UK government datasets — we do not claim ownership of this source data. However, our analysis, scoring methodology, AI-generated insights, and the way data is presented are our intellectual property.

You may use the outputs of our service for your own business purposes, including sharing with your clients. You may not republish, resell, or redistribute raw data or bulk outputs from the platform.

9. Your Content

You retain ownership of the business descriptions, notes, and other content you provide to Footprint. By using the service, you grant us a licence to process this content for the purpose of providing the service. We will not use your content for any other purpose.

10. Third-Party Services

Footprint uses the following third-party services: Anthropic (AI analysis), Google Places (competitor data), Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), and Klaviyo (email communications). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms. We are not responsible for their availability.

11. Availability and Support

We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend the service for maintenance. Support is available at support@getfootprint.co.uk. We aim to respond within 2 business days. Priority support is available on Pro and Scale plans.

12. Limitation of Liability

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the preceding 3 months.

We are not liable for any business losses arising from reliance on AI-generated analysis. Nothing in these terms excludes our liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be excluded by law.

13. Termination

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account for breach of these terms after giving you reasonable notice. On termination, your data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will give you 30 days’ notice of any changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
